Aqueous Moisture Barrier Lacquer for Paperboard

Fast Drying

Effective Barrier

Against Oil and Grease

An aqueous moisture barrier lacquer for paperboard gives a paperboard pack something it does not naturally have: useful resistance to moisture. Paperboard is an excellent packaging material in many ways — printable foldable recyclable cost-effective and familiar to consumers — but it is also absorbent.

Triwill Group supplies Barrier Coating through partners and distributors in the UAE and GCC, on a quote-led basis. Technical data sheets are available on request, with a technical and commercial study behind each recommendation.

Key Features

  • Moisture resistance: A barrier film that slows moisture penetration into paperboard helping packs keep strength shape and appearance in humid storage.
  • Pack protection: Helps protect both the board itself — against softening warping and staining — and the product inside.
  • Waterbased formulation: A lower-odour aqueous coating suited to modern coating units and to packaging production where solvent coatings are best avoided.
  • Practical alternative to lamination: Gives paperboard useful moisture resistance without necessarily moving to a plastic-laminated board.
  • Production-friendly: Designed for in-line or off-line coating units at commercial speeds, with technical guidance on application weight and drying.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an aqueous moisture barrier lacquer?

A waterbased overprint coating applied over paperboard, formulated to form a more continuous, less permeable film than a standard coating, slowing moisture penetration into the board and helping the pack keep its strength, shape and appearance in humid conditions.

Does it make paperboard waterproof?

No, it does not make board waterproof like a plastic sheet. It gives board a meaningful level of moisture resistance that helps packs survive humid storage, transport and retail display.

How is barrier performance tested?

A visual check alone is not sufficient; barrier performance must be tested functionally.

Will it work on uncoated board?

Test on the actual board before production.
